Recap: Alta Hawks vs. West Panthers
The Alta Hawks came tearing into Friday's match with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 57-43 win over West. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Alta has scored all year.
Alta was led to victory by Carter Doleac and Jaxon Johnson. Doleac scored 15 points along with nine rebounds, while Johnson scored 19 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Ace Reiser, who scored seven points.
West's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elijah Albertson, who scored ten points. Robert "R.J." Hansen was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Alta's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-1. As for West, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Alta will take on Olympus at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Olympus knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 14 contests -- so hopefully Alta likes a good challenge. As for West, they will be playing in front of their home fans against East at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully East focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up six on Friday.
