Basketball Recap: Mountain Crest Starts off Right with Win over Morgan

Mountain Crest gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Morgan Trojans with a sharp 73-47 win. The Mustangs have beaten the Trojans the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Trojans has come to flipping the script.

Leading Mountain Crest to victory were Bella Carroll and Emersyn Brown. Carroll went 6-for-11 to rack up 19 points and five steals, while Brown shot 40% from the field en route to 16 points along with seven steals and five rebounds. Those seven steals gave Brown a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sage Walker, who posted 12 points and seven boards.

Despite the loss, Morgan still got an impressive performance from Makayla Williams, who scored 14 points and four steals. Bella Nelson was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Mountain Crest has already played their next game, a 60-54 victory against Salem Hills on the 25th. As for Morgan, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 70-52 win against Juab on the 20th.
