Baseball Recap: Wylie Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Wylie ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They won by a run and slipped past the Memorial Mavericks 4-3. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 4-3 back in March.

Colby Garrett made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season.

Garrett wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Dylan Regala, who scored a run while going 3-for-5. Ty Briscoe was another, going 1-for-4 with two RBI.

Wylie pushed their record up to 14-4-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Memorial, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-7.

Wylie will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Mavericks: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
