Volleyball Recap: Roosevelt Sharks vs. Lakeland Hornets
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Roosevelt can now relate to. They came up short against the Lakeland Hornets on Wednesday, falling 3-0. If the Sharks were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Hornets when the teams met back in October of 2016, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-5, 25-9.
Lakeland was led to victory by Kelly Mallon and Sofia Cruz. Mallon had 15 kills, seven digs, and four aces, while Cruz had 11 kills, three digs, and three aces. Mallon is crushing it when it comes to kills: she's had at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Taryn Bruno was another key player, getting six digs and three aces.
This is the second loss in a row for Roosevelt and nudges their season record down to 2-2. As for Lakeland, the win was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 18-1.
Roosevelt does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lakeland, they have already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Nanuet on the 1st.
