Basketball Recap: Greater Vision Academy Comes Up Short

Greater Vision Academy suffered their biggest defeat since January 13th on Friday. They took a blow against the Shining Light Academy Knights, falling 66-34. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Lions' biggest loss of the season was also their lowest-scoring.

Bradun Rogers and Ari Love certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Rogers went 6-for-15 en route to 13 points and three steals, while Love posted ten points. Rogers is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last five games he's played.

Shining Light Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jayden Watlington, who shot 73% from the field to rack up 17 points. Another player making a difference was Zach Evaro, who scored eight points in addition to 13 boards and five assists.

Greater Vision Academy now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Shining Light Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-1.

Coming up, Greater Vision Academy will square off against Faith Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Lions' defense better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 52.4 points per game this season. As for Shining Light Academy, they will challenge New Life Christian Academy at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
