Soccer Recap: LaBelle Comes Up Short

If LaBelle was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of DeSoto County last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The LaBelle Cowboys/Cowgirls fell just short of the Lely Trojans by a score of 2-1 on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Cowboys/Cowgirls can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 315th, while the Trojans are ranked 156th).

LaBelle has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season. As for Lely, they pushed their record up to 8-4-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

LaBelle will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Immokalee at 7:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Lely also won't see the pitch for a while: their next game is against North Fort Myers at 6:30 p.m. on January 2, 2025. Lely is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3.6 goals per game this season.
