Recap: Torres Toros vs. Wilson Mules
This season hasn't been kind to The Torres Toros, who are still winless after their seventh matchup. They were beaten by Wilson 42-0 on Thursday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Torres in their matchups with Wilson: they've now lost five in a row.
Dario Perez was the offensive standout of the match as he threw for 121 yards and three touchdowns on only nine passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Anthony Haro also deserves a mention for his punt return touchdown.
Torres' loss was their eighth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-7. Sadly, the team can't blame their woes on tough opposition, as that stretch included 1-8 Maywood CES and 2-7 Belmont (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 42.2% over those games). As for Wilson, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Torres will challenge Marshall at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th. Marshall comes in on a streak of failing to score more than six points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Wilson, they will head out on the road to face off against Lincoln at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th.
