Basketball Recap: Marmaduke Takes a Loss

Marmaduke lost against East Poinsett County on January 7th and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Marmaduke Greyhounds took a blow against the East Poinsett County Warriors, falling 49-18. The Greyhounds were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-1.

East Poinsett County found their leader in sophomore Allison Gaines, who went 6 of 9 on her way to 14 points and four steals. Gaines has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times she's played. Riley Ashcraft was another key player, putting up nine points.

Marmaduke has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-20 record this season. As for East Poinsett County, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-8.

Marmaduke will head out to take on Piggott at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for East Poinsett County, they will be playing at home against Buffalo Island Central at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. East Poinsett County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.5 points per game this season.
