Softball Recap: Steinbrenner Starts Season with Victory at Home

Steinbrenner took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Gaither Cowboys a 7-0 shutout. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Warriors have posted since April 16, 2024.

Not much got past Lilly Patton, who gave up just two hits and racked up 13 Ks to keep Gaither off the board. The dominant performance gave Patton a new career-high in strikeouts.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sophie Luaces, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Jenna Fortenberry, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3.

Steinbrenner didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 1-0 loss against Crystal River on the 21st. As for Gaither, they have also already played their next game, a 13-1 defeat against Bloomingdale on the 21st.
