Basketball Game Preview: Morgantown Christian Academy Mustangs vs. Elk Valley Christian

The Morgantown Christian Academy Mustangs will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against Elk Valley Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Morgantown Christian Academy is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Bloomingdale: they outscored them in every quarter. Morgantown Christian Academy enjoyed a cozy 68-49 victory over Bloomingdale two weeks ago. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 34th, while the Blazers are ranked 87th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Collin Lemley, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. His afternoon made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cade Spicer, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 15 points.

Morgantown Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Elk Valley Christian hadn't done well against Cross Lanes Christian recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Elk Valley Christian took down Cross Lanes Christian 62-43. While Elk Valley Christian didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Elk Valley Christian is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.7 points per game. As for Morgantown Christian Academy, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.

Everything came up roses for Morgantown Christian Academy against Elk Valley Christian in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, as the team secured a 64-33 victory.
