Erwin is 2-8 against A.C. Reynolds since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Erwin Warriors will be playing at home against the A.C. Reynolds Rockets at 6:00 p.m. Erwin is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.
Last Wednesday, Erwin got the win against Hendersonville by a conclusive 11-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Warriors.
Kylie Gingras made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Gingras was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and one triple. Those hits were her first of the season.
In other batting news, Erwin got a massive performance out of Jaycee Woody, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Jessica Varillas, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base.
Erwin lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for A.C. Reynolds' offense. They lost 12-0 to Owen on Thursday. The Rockets have struggled against the Warhorses recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meetings.
A.C. Reynolds saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaylea Harper, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.
A.C. Reynolds now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Erwin, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
A.C. Reynolds' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Erwin hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .353. It's a different story for A.C. Reynolds, though, as they've only averaged .212. Will they be able to contain Erwin's hitters?
Erwin came out on top in a nail-biter against A.C. Reynolds in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 5-4. Does Erwin have another victory up their sleeve, or will A.C. Reynolds turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
