Softball Recap: Rustburg Picks Up Eighth Consecutive Victory

With a playoff win on the line, Rustburg rose to the challenge on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Brookville Bees, sneaking past 4-3. Winning may never get old, but the Red Devils sure are getting used to it with their eighth in a row.

Laila Bigham spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on three hits and racked up 16 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in 17 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kamryn Powell was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2025. Skylar Tyree was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Rustburg's victory bumped their record up to 18-5. As for Brookville, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-6.

As of now, neither Rustburg nor the Bees have any future games scheduled.
