Basketball Game Preview: Bell Bulldogs vs. Lafayette Hornets

The Bell Bulldogs will square off against the Lafayette Hornets at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Having struggled with eight defeats in a row, Bell turned things around against St. John Lutheran on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 56-30 margin over the Saints. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Bulldogs have posted since December 17, 2024.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lafayette). Everything went their way against Jefferson County on Thursday as Lafayette made off with a 78-52 victory. With that win, the Hornets brought their scoring average up to 52.2 points per game.

Bell better keep an eye on Tywan Williamson. He was instrumental in Lafayette's win, going 6 for 8 from beyond the arc en route to 29 points along with five boards and three steals. The dominant performance gave Williamson a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamarcus Smith, who posted six points and 12 rebounds.

Lafayette smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

The victory snapped Lafayette's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-8 record. As for Bell, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-13.
