Baseball Game Preview: Farragut Admirals vs. Juarez Eagles

The Farragut Admirals will take on the Juarez Eagles at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. Farragut will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

Farragut's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They came out on top against Clemente by a score of 4-0.

Robert DeMateo made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, earning one RBI, one run, and two stolen bases.

In other batting news, Ben DeMateo and Nico Roman did most of the damage at the plate: Ben went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one triple, while Roman went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one double. DeMateo has become a key player for Farragut: the team is 11-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-5 otherwise. Yoel Guerra was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, Juarez lost 14-4 to King on Thursday.

Farragut pushed their record up to 15-6 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Juarez, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season.

Farragut took their win against Juarez in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 17-0 score. Will the Admirals repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
