Recap: Grimsley Whirlies vs. Ben L. Smith Golden Eagles
The Grimsley Whirlies lost against the Ben L. Smith Golden Eagles back in November, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Grimsley fell 50-37 to Ben L. Smith. Grimsley has not had much luck with Ben L. Smith recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite the loss, Grimsley still got an impressive performance from Autumn Clark, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds. The game was Clark's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Briasiah Lee, who scored eight points.
Even though they lost, Grimsley were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Grimsley's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Ben L. Smith, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.
Grimsley won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Ragsdale at 8:00 p.m. on December 21st. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Brooke Parker and Clark. Ben L. Smith will finish 2023 at home by hosting Reidsville at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday. Reidsville will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 311th, while Ben L. Smith is ranked 66th).
