If Hughson was riding high fresh off their 29-6 takedown of Escalon last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Huskies took a blow against the Sonora Wildcats on Friday, falling 43-12. While losing is never fun, the Huskies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 227th, while the Wildcats are ranked 66th).

Hughson's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lawson Aviles, who picked up 118 receiving yards and one score.

Sonora had a senior duo take command as Cash Byington gained 200 total yards and two touchdowns and Eli Ingalls threw for 138 yards and three touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes. The bulk of those receiving yards came from one huge play: a catch that gained an incredible 67 yards. Rigo Estrella did his part by putting the 'special' in special teams, booting in three field goals and four extra points.

Hughson's defeat dropped their record down to 6-2. As for Sonora, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.

Hughson wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 38-13 win against Orestimba on the 17th. As for Sonora, they have also already played their next contest, a 46-20 victory against Ripon on the 17th.
