Basketball Recap: Grenada Chargers vs. Clarksdale Wildcats
Grenada had to start their season on the road on Tuesday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They came up short against the Clarksdale Wildcats, falling 69-46. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it five in a row.
Grenada's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Nathan Woods, who almost dropped a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds, and Tyler Edwards, who went 5-for-10 en route to 17 points in addition to five boards and three steals.
Clarksdale got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jordan Howard out in front who shot 56% from the field to rack up 15 points and six steals. Those 15 points gave Howard a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremy Jurden, who went 5-for-11 on his way to 11 points along with seven rebounds and four blocks.
Looking ahead, Grenada will be playing at home against Amanda Elzy at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Clarksdale, they will hit the road for the first time this season to take on Lake Cormorant at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
