The Sutter Huskies will face off against the Bradshaw Christian Pride at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Bradshaw Christian will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: Sutter extended their winning streak to four on Friday. The Huskies put the hurt on Rio Linda with a sharp 14-1 win.
Aiden Zwissig made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run.
In other batting news, Sutter got a massive performance out of Blake Agger, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. That's the most runs Agger has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Aiden Roesch, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Sutter always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rio Linda only posted an OBP of .333.
Meanwhile, Bradshaw Christian made easy work of El Dorado on Friday and carried off a 12-5 victory.
Like Sutter, Bradshaw Christian also got a great game from a two-way player: Ethan Quach. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Quach was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Timmy Maung was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Evan Fujii-Sisler was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Sutter's win bumped their record up to 18-4. As for Bradshaw Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 18-3.
Monday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Sutter has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .475. However, it's not like Bradshaw Christian struggles in that department as they've averaged .439. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
