Wetumpka waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. Everything went their way against the Elmore County Panthers as they made off with a 62-36 victory. The Indians have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 24 points or more this season.

Wetumpka's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Andrew Voyles, who went 9 for 17 on his way to 24 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists. The contest was Voyles' fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nolan Fitch, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 19 points and seven rebounds.

Wetumpka smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

Wetumpka's victory bumped their record up to 11-2. As for Elmore County, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-6.

Wetumpka won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Stanhope Elmore at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Stanhope Elmore knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Wetumpka likes a good challenge. As for Elmore County, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Holtville at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
