Volleyball Game Preview: Musselman Applemen vs. University Hawks

After both having extra time off, the Musselman Applemen and the University Hawks will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Musselman is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of West Virginia's top teams: Hedgesville, who was ranked first at the time (Musselman was ranked sixth). The Applemen fell 3-1 to the Eagles on Tuesday. The Applemen haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Musselman started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 18-25, 25-20, 25-10, 25-16.

Meanwhile, University was able to grind out a solid win over Elkins on Tuesday, taking the game 2-0. The victory continues a trend for the Hawks in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won three in a row.

University easily took the first set, but they let things get interesting in the other. The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 25-20.

University's win bumped their record up to 26-9-4. As for Musselman, their defeat dropped their record down to 21-14.
