Baseball Game Preview: Columbia Academy Cougars vs. Silliman Institute Wildcats

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Columbia Academy Cougars duke it out with Silliman Institute Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Columbia Academy is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.

Silliman Institute's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Tuesday: Columbia Academy hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. Columbia Academy never let Bowling Green get on the board and left with a 10-0 win on Friday. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by six runs or more this season.

Not much got past Reed Duncan, who gave up just a hit and racked up 14 Ks to keep Bowling Green off the board. Furthermore, Duncan didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since March 6th.

On the hitting side, Carson Stuart was incredible, scoring a run while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Corban Lawrence, who went 3-for-5 with four RBI and one double.

Columbia Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .571 or higher in three consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Silliman Institute didn't have quite enough to beat Parklane Academy last Tuesday and fell 3-2. The contest marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Columbia Academy pushed their record up to 15-6 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Silliman Institute, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.

Columbia Academy skirted past Silliman Institute 7-5 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Does Columbia Academy have another victory up their sleeve, or will Silliman Institute turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
