Baseball Recap: Norwell Has No Trouble Against New Haven

Norwell's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the New Haven Bulldogs with a sharp 10-2 victory. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by seven runs or more this season.

Cayden Cassel made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had over his last five matchups. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Drew Graft was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Logan Cotton was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Norwell always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Norwell's win bumped their record up to 10-6. As for New Haven, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Norwell will venture away from home to take on Adams Central at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Flying Jets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.53 runs per game on average), something the Knights will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for New Haven, they will head out to square off against Columbia City at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
