Softball Recap: Hector Starts Season with Victory on the Road

Hector had to kick off their season on the road on Monday, but they showed no ill effects. They blew past the Bigelow Panthers 12-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Wildcats have posted against the Panthers since April 24, 2018.

Sarena Myers made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 16 over seven innings pitched. Myers was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs, seven RBI, and four runs while going 4-for-5.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Reece Vincent, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4. Emma McConnell was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

Hector kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Looking ahead, Hector will venture away from home to face off against Scranton at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Bigelow, they will head out on the road to square off against Morrilton at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bigelow is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak dating back to last season.
