Baseball Game Preview: Daviess County Panthers vs. McLean County Cougars

Daviess County is 8-1 against McLean County since March of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Daviess County Panthers take on McLean County Cougars at 5:30 p.m. McLean County took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Daviess County, who comes in off a win.

Daviess County is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Hancock County 17-4 on Monday. With that victory, the Panthers brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.

Parker Wilson looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Brody Brubaker was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Logan Mewes, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 1-for-2.

Daviess County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .405. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hancock County only posted a batting average of .148.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 15 runs the game before, McLean County was a bit more limited in their game on Saturday. They lost 9-2 to Breckinridge County. The contest marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

McLean County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hayden Hudson, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Daviess County now has a winning record of 3-2. As for McLean County, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 3-2.

Daviess County beat McLean County 6-2 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Daviess County since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
