Baseball Game Preview: Perry Hall Gators vs. Catonsville Comets

The Perry Hall Gators will face off against the Catonsville Comets at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Perry Hall will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.

Perry Hall came out on top against Lansdowne on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run seventh inning. The Gators walked away with a 10-5 victory over the Vikings. The win continues a trend for the Gators in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now won eight in a row.

Austen Widomski made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has become a key player for Perry Hall: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one hit, but 4-5 otherwise. Widomski was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Widomski wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Shane Gibson, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Gibson also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Another was Kade Gibson, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Catonsville, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Kenwood an 8-0 shutout on Friday. The Comets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by six runs or more this season.

The victory got Perry Hall back to even at 6-6. As for Catonsville, their win bumped their record up to 6-7.

Perry Hall came out on top in a nail-biter against Catonsville when the teams last played back in March of 2025, sneaking past 4-3. Will the Gators repeat their success, or do the Comets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
