Football Recap: Leake County Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Leake County can now relate to. They were beaten by the Taylorsville Tartars 36-0 on Friday. Having soared to a lofty 36 points in the game before, the Gators' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Davion Townsend threw for 40 yards on four of ten attempts.

It was another big night for Tayshawn Scott, who rushed for 247 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.8 yards per carry for Taylorsville. Scott has become a key player for the Tartars: the team is undefeated when he posts at least 100 rushing yards, but 3-4 otherwise.

Leake County's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-6. As for Taylorsville, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-4.

Leake County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Taylorsville, they will square off against Simmons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Tartars 15, the Blue Devils 7.3) so any points scored will be well earned.
