Opposing passers better start keeping an eye on Jason Alaniz: he recorded his first sack on Friday and we're guessing he's looking for more. He also made eight total tackles (2.0 for loss), helping propel Merkel past Ballinger by a score of 38-26. We certainly expect to see more performances from Alaniz considering he's already seeing the field as a sophomore.
