Football Game Preview: Fruita Monument Wildcats vs. Mountain Vista Golden Eagles + How To Watch

The Fruita Monument Wildcats are taking a road trip to square off against the Mountain Vista Golden Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

Fruita Monument will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up 13 points last Thursday, then bounced right back against Rock Canyon on Friday. The Wildcats put the hurt on the Jaguars with a sharp 35-13 win. Considering the Wildcats' offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Cooper Rowell had a dynamite game, rushing for 110 yards and two scores on only ten carries, while also throwing for 190 yards and a pair of TDs on only 12 passes. He got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 68 yards.

Fruita Monument's run defense was locked in: Rock Canyon could only muster 2.9 yards per carry. The Wildcats' ground attack was stronger, having averaged 5.1.

Meanwhile, Mountain Vista put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They never let ThunderRidge get on the board and left with a 40-0 victory. The Golden Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Mountain Vista's win came from a few key players Fruita Monument will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Brooklyn Bailey, who picked up 96 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Brody Callister was another key player, rushing for 90 yards and one score on only seven carries.

Fruita Monument now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Mountain Vista, their record now sits at 7-0.

Fruita Monument was taken down by Mountain Vista 49-6 in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Wildcats were down 35-6.
