Baseball Recap: Stevenson Comes Up Short

Stevenson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Crystal Lake Central Tigers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Patriots of the 2-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2016.

Stevenson got a good showing from Yuni Hamideh, who tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave Hamideh a new career-low.

At the plate, Kosuke Sakamoto was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with three doubles. Matteo Nolasco was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Stevenson's loss dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Crystal Lake Central, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-6-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Stevenson will challenge Mundelein at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Crystal Lake Central, they will take on Cary-Grove at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Trojans' pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so the Tigers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
