League recap: Murphy throws longest pass in league this season for Gaylesville

The connection went for 51 yards, the longest such play in 1A Region 7 this season.

Cedar Bluff moved up to 178 from 221 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Tigers climbed the ranks as a result of beating Donoho 53-9.

Gaylesville's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Trojans feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Cole Murphy has thrown for 427 yards and four touchdowns this season, while Malachii Dutton has 11 catches for 218 yards. John David Jennings leads the league in rushing with 1137 yards.

A big matchup in 1A Region 7 this week will be when the Falcons take on Spring Garden. Donoho is in fifth place, while the Panthers are in second place.

Cedar Bluff extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Shannon Felder's team, 53-9. This was the team's seventh consecutive win.
