Volleyball Recap: Charleroi Takes a Loss

Charleroi was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 13th straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Burgettstown Blue Devils. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Blue Devils this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in September.

Charleroi took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The final score came out to 16-25, 25-23, 17-25, 25-15, 15-9.

Despite the loss, Charleroi saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Nativity Wright had ten digs.

Charleroi's defeat dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Burgettstown, their victory ended a five-match drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-4.

Charleroi has already played their next matchup (against Keystone Oaks), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Burgettstown, they will challenge Bentworth at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
