Baseball Recap: Lawrence County Comes Up Short

If Lawrence County was feeling good fresh off their 16-6 takedown of Summertown last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Lawrence County fell 6-1 to Tullahoma on Monday. Lawrence County has struggled against Tullahoma recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Logan Mays was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out ten batters over 6.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Lawrence County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jack Emerson, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Lawrence County's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 11-9. As for Tullahoma, the victory was the 16th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 16-6.

While Lawrence County had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
