Basketball Game Preview: Calhoun Tigers vs. Stanhope Elmore Mustangs

The Calhoun Tigers will head out on the road to square off against the Stanhope Elmore Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Calhoun took a loss when they played away from home back in December of 2024, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They strolled past Luverne with points to spare, taking the game 71-54. That 17 point margin sets a new team best for Calhoun this season.

Meanwhile, Stanhope Elmore ended up a good deal behind Wetumpka back in December of 2024 and lost 72-56. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 281st, while the Indians are ranked 114th).

Stanhope Elmore's loss dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Calhoun, their victory bumped their record up to 3-6.

Calhoun was able to grind out a solid win over Stanhope Elmore in their previous matchup back in January of 2021, winning 71-62. The rematch might be a little tougher for Calhoun since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
