Football Game Preview: South Brunswick Cougars vs. West Bladen Knights

The South Brunswick Cougars will face off against the West Bladen Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in South Brunswick's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while West Bladen has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.

On Friday, South Brunswick strolled past Fairmont with points to spare, taking the game 35-18. The Cougars pushed the score to 21-0 by the end of the third, a deficit the Golden Tornadoes cut but never quite recovered from.

Amerius Revels produced another solid performance rushing for 228 yards and three scores while picking up 8.8 yards per carry, and also picking up 45 receiving yards. Those 228 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when West Bladen and South Columbus meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. The Knights fell 34-25 to the Stallions.

Despite the loss, West Bladen saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Devan Haire threw for 88 yards and three TDs.

West Bladen's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for South Brunswick, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.

Everything came up roses for South Brunswick against West Bladen in their previous matchup back in September of 2022, as the squad secured a 62-0 victory. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
