Basketball Game Preview: Sidney Yellowjackets vs. Butler Aviators

The Sidney Yellowjackets will head out to take on the Butler Aviators at 11:45 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Sidney is headed into the game having just posted their closest victory since December 14, 2024 on Wednesday. They skirted past Piqua 37-35. Given the Yellowjackets' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 169th, while the Indians are ranked 501st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Butler put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Xenia 74-14. The Aviators have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matches by 24 points or more this season.

Butler's win was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-0. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.7 points per game. As for Sidney, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season.

Sidney came up short against Butler in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, falling 49-39. Can Sidney avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
