Football Recap: Sultan Skates Past Jefferson with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sultan). They claimed a resounding 48-7 win over the Jefferson Raiders. With the Turks ahead 42-7 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sultan to victory, but perhaps none more so than Hunter Ansell, who rushed for 139 yards and two scores on only nine carries. That's the most rushing touchdowns Ansell has posted since back in October of 2024. Another player making a difference was Julio Vargas Jr, who gained 121 total yards and two touchdowns.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Sultan was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 378 rushing yards. They are a perfect 4-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

Sultan's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB five times. The heavy lifting was done by Dax Widaman and Timothy Dilger, who racked up four sacks between them. Ansell got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Sultan has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 33.2 points over those games. As for Jefferson, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Sultan didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 35-0 win against Bellevue Christian on the 25th. As for Jefferson, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 25-14 victory against Beamer on the 23rd.
