Basketball Recap: Faith Baptist Christian Academy Falls to Coastal Homeschool in First Game of Season

Faith Baptist Christian Academy unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a 38-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Coastal HomeSchool Hurricanes on Friday. The Crusaders haven't had much luck with the Hurricanes recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Sophie Sellars was Faith Baptist Christian Academy's leading scorer, having posted 11 points. Sellars also led the team in assists with two. Bella Gray held things down on the boards with 15 rebounds.

Leading Coastal HomeSchool to victory were Abbie Litchfield and Ashlan Boggs. Litchfield posted eight points and seven boards, while Boggs earned eight points and six steals. The dominant performance also gave Litchfield a new career-high in assists (three).

Coastal HomeSchool pushed their record up to 2-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Faith Baptist Christian Academy will take on Savannah Athletic Association at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Coastal HomeSchool, they will challenge Providence Athletic Club at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. This will be the Hurricanes' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
