Baseball Recap: Rio Takes a Loss

Rio lost against Montello back in May of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Vikings lost 11-1 to the Hilltoppers. The Vikings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Rio saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Shawback, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Rio's defeat dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Montello, their victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-11.

While Rio had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
