Volleyball Recap: Incarnate Word Academy Takes a Loss

Incarnate Word Academy and Nixa squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Incarnate Word Academy had to settle for second. They came up short against the Eagles, falling 3-0. The defeat continues a trend for the Red Knights in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost five in a row.

Nixa's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mara Coulter led the charge by getting 15 digs and four assists. Coulter has been hot for a while, having posted 11 or more digs the last ten times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Creed, who had four digs and three aces.

Incarnate Word Academy's loss dropped their record down to 25-16. As for Nixa, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 29-10 record this season.

As of now, neither Incarnate Word Academy nor Nixa have any future games scheduled.
