Softball Recap: Bear River Has No Trouble Against Fremont

Bear River was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Fremont on Thursday. Bear River put the hurt on Fremont with a sharp 9-2 victory. The Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.

Kate Wilson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on one hit and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Bella Dougals and Londyn Gamble did most of the damage at the plate: Dougals went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI, while Gamble went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Molly Canfield was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Bear River was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fremont only posted a batting average of .050.

Bear River's record now sits at 8-1. As for Fremont, they dropped their record down to 1-7 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Bear River has already played their next contest, a 9-6 win against West Field on the 21st. As for Fremont, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, an 8-6 loss against Herriman on the 21st.
