Volleyball Recap: Clay-Battelle Takes a Loss

If Clay-Battelle was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of North Marion on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cee-Bees fell just short of the Doddridge County Bulldogs by a score of 2-1 on Thursday. The Cee-Bees were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2023.

Clay-Battelle came incredibly close to winning: the sets they lost were decided by three points or less. The final score came out to 18-25, 26-24, 16-14.

Nevaeh St.Clair paced Clay-Battelle's offense, picking up eight kills. St.Clair got some help from Maggie Lemley and her 21 assists. St.Clair was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Doddridge County can attribute much of their success to Kylie Swiger, who had 14 digs and one assist. That's the most digs Swiger has posted since back in October of 2024.

Clay-Battelle's loss dropped their record down to 3-1. As for Doddridge County, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Coincidentally, Clay-Battelle and Doddridge County will both be playing East Fairmont the next time they take the court. The Bulldogs will head out to face the Bees at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Cee-Bees will play them later in the day, at 8:00 p.m.
