Basketball Recap: Miramar Patriots vs. Coral Springs Charter Panthers
The Miramar Patriots scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They blew past Coral Springs Charter 82-45 at home. Given Miramar's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 225th, while the Panthers are ranked 675th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Joshua Skinner, who scored 17 points along with three steals. He is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Siah Bolt was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
When it comes to explaining why Coral Springs Charter lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jalen McGregor. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 29 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points McGregor has scored all season.
Even though they lost, Coral Springs Charter smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Miramar now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Coral Springs Charter, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-18.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Miramar won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Knights at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th. Hopefully Monarch focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Monday. As for Coral Springs Charter, they will head out on the road to face off against the Falcons at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Flanagan is out to stop a ten-game streak of losses at home.
