Recap: Bishop's Knights vs. Grossmont Foothillers
After a string of three wins, the Bishop's Knights's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 49-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of Grossmont. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Bishop's has scored all season.
Bishop's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Margo Leong, who scored eight points along with 11 rebounds. Leong is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ayla Johnson, who scored eight points.
Grossmont got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Aakash Price out in front who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds. That's the first time this season that Price scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Amethyst Price , who scored eight points along with 11 rebounds.
Bishop's defeat dropped their record down to 6-2. As for Grossmont, they pushed their record up to 7-1 with that victory, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.
Bishop's has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Monte Vista at 5:30 p.m. on December 15th. Monte Vista will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 507th, while Bishop's is ranked 72nd). Grossmont will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Carlsbad at 7:00 p.m. on December 14th. Carlsbad is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
