Basketball Game Preview: The Oakwood School Eagles vs. Pungo Christian Academy Raiders

The Oakwood School is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will host the Pungo Christian Academy Raiders at 7:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles last Thursday. The Oakwood School put the hurt on Washington Montessori with a sharp 79-54 victory.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead The Oakwood School to victory, but perhaps none more so than Braven Blount, who shot 48% from the field en route to 32 points along with eight steals and seven assists. The team also got some help courtesy of James Miller, who went 11-for-15 on his way to 25 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Meanwhile, Pungo Christian Academy played a tough contest on Monday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 76-55 to Terra Ceia Christian. The Raiders were down 54-31 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

The win got The Oakwood School back to even at 1-1. As for Pungo Christian Academy, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

The Oakwood School was taken down by Pungo Christian Academy 75-10 when the teams last played back in November of 2023. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Eagles were down 49-5.
