Baseball Recap: Whittier Takes a Loss

Whittier extended their losing streak to eight on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 6-15 in the process. They lost 9-1 to the California Condors. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Condors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-6 on April 2nd.

Whittier saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Barin Lecea, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

As for California, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 1 runs in those games.

On California's side, Ethan Martinez looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.

On the hitting side, Josh Ibarra was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Duarte, who went 3-for-5 with two runs and one RBI.

While Whittier had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:15 p.m. on Friday.
