League recap: Knight's Lopez delivers best pitching performance from past week

Golden league recap: 5/14/12

Estuardo Lopez was the best pitcher in the league this week. His stat line for the week included two wins and 10 Ks.

The league's longest active winning streak belongs to Quartz Hill (19-8, 11-3), undefeated over its last nine games. Three of those wins came in the past week, including a 13-2 victory over Antelope Valley and a 24-0 win over Antelope Valley.

Eastside's pitching staff dominated this week, allowing only five hits and two walks, both of which led the league. The Lions have given up a mere 82 hits on the year in addition to compiling 117 strikeouts. Andrew Potter is the leader in that category with 73 Ks on the season.

Lancaster's dominant pitching staff finished its week with a league-high 63 strikeouts, but still trails Quartz Hill for the season lead (193 Ks).



Eastside's Potter led the league in strikeouts this week with 15. With 73 strikeouts this year so far, he ranks first in the league.

Palmdale's Carlos Ochoa finished his week with six hits, tops in the league. His 18 hits for the year are tenth in the league, and he boasts a .265 batting average.
