The Foothill Mustangs will head out on the road to challenge the Sacramento Dragons at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Foothill has three straight victories, Sacramento has eight straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Thursday, Foothill got the win against Johnson by a conclusive 15-7.
Aiden Caravalho was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has become a key player for Foothill: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most three hits, but 7-12 otherwise. Caravalho was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jaden-McKenzie Cox, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Jaylin Blackwell was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Foothill kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Sacramento's offense. They came up short against Pioneer on Thursday, falling 14-0.
Foothill's record is now 9-13. As for Sacramento, their loss dropped their record down to 1-16.
Sacramento's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Foothill has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.6 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Sacramento, though, as they've been averaging only 3.9 strikeouts. Will Foothill keep running through batters, or will the Dragons buck the trend?
Foothill got the 'W' in their previous matchup on Monday against Sacramento by a conclusive 15-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
