Baseball Recap: Bishop Mcdevitt Beats Gettysburg for Their Third Straight Victory

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Bishop McDevitt ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Gettysburg Warriors 5-4. While the Crusaders didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-11), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Bishop McDevitt let Jett Daugherty and Josh Bernard run wild. Daugherty went 2-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Bernard went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Those two runs gave Bernard a new career-high. Chase Clinkscale also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Bishop McDevitt was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

The victory (which was Bishop McDevitt's third in a row) raised their record to 5-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Gettysburg, the defeat snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 7-2 record.

Bishop McDevitt wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 9-7 loss against Red Land on the 9th. As for Gettysburg, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 6-0 defeat against Palmyra on the 9th.
