Recap: Bonanza Bengals vs. Legacy Longhorns

The Bonanza Bengals were the 42-37 winner over the Legacy Longhorns when they last played one another back in December of 2014, but their luck changed this time around. Bonanza took a serious blow against Legacy on Friday, falling 84-29. Bonanza has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Legacy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Alabama Nieves led the charge by scoring 27 points along with four steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which Nieves has scored at least 25% of Legacy's points. Another player making a difference was Laila Gines, who scored 18 points along with nine steals and five rebounds.

Bonanza's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Legacy, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-5.

Bonanza will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Cheyenne at 6:30 p.m. on January 4, 2024. Hopefully Cheyenne focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine last Monday. Legacy will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Valley Center at 3:00 p.m. on December 27th. Valley Center will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 813th in California, while Legacy is ranked 48th in Nevada).
