Basketball Recap: Western Harnett Comes Up Short

Western Harnett played a tough contest on Wednesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by the Pine Forest Trojans 55-25. The Eagles have struggled against the Trojans recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Western Harnett saw an underclassman step up: freshman Tamara Hayes posted 12 points.

Even though they lost, Western Harnett smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Jaliyah Carter continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Pine Forest, going 7 for 15 en route to 18 points in addition to eight rebounds and six steals. Another player making a difference was Armoni Campbell, who had five points along with five assists and five steals.

Western Harnett's defeat dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Pine Forest, the victory got them back to even at 9-9.

Western Harnett didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 67-62 win against Triton on the 31st. Pine Forest has also already played their next game, a 30-29 loss against E.E. Smith on the 31st.
